A NEW PLAY ABOUT COLUMBIA SPORTSWEAR ‘ONE TOUGH MOTHER” GERT BOYLE
The late Columbia Sportswear Matriarch Gert Boyle earned a place in the hearts of countless Oregonians with her honesty, generosity, perseverance, and sense of humor—all attributes we could sure use now. In this two-woman show that continues playwright Donnie’s tradition of bringing Oregon icons to the stage, the irrepressible Boyle is interviewed by a local reporter upon the release of her 2005 autobiography, “One Tough Mother.”
As Gert reflects on her family’s escape from Nazi Germany, the death of her husband, and how she and son Tim took Columbia from the verge of bankruptcy to the international success it is today, the audience will discover there is more than meets the eye, with a few surprises, as well.
